Tech. Documents
Our group has developed a number of supplementary documents and tools which are available for download on this page. These items were developed to aid in our research, and as such, tend to deal with situations arising in our lab. Feel free to suggest improvements, however, we do not guarantee we will implement any external suggestions.
Documents
- Properties of 6Li:
A detailed document describing the physical properties of atomic 6Li (updated Nov. 2016). This document is released under a Creative Commons License.

Tools
- Electric Dipole Transition Matrix Element Calculator:
A Mathematica notebook to calculate electric dipole transition matrix elements for atomic systems. The notebook is currently configured to calculate the matrix elements for 6Li, but is easily modified for other atoms.
(Mathematica Notebook 6 kB) - Magnetic Field Calculator:
A Mathematica notebook to calculate the magnetic field from an arbitrary number of current loops, subject only to the requirement that all the coils are coaxial. The notebook implements the full elliptic-integral solution. We have applied the notebook to simulating both complicated multi-coil systems and individual coils where we represent every individual turn. In all cases, the agreement between the calculation and subsequent measurements has been excellent.
(Mathematica Notebook 100 kB) (PDF version of the notebook 33 kB) - SIFConvert:
A program to convert a directory of SIF-format images from our Andor camera into ASCII datafiles suitable for analysis.
(Windows Executable 44 kB) (Zipped source code 1.7 MB)
